This project is a great little group activity that teaches primary aged children how to make a simple doll using their skill at tying knots and some imagination.

Can bring up the discussion of :

  • fabric – warp and weft and bias
  • American Pioneer History(think Laura Ingalls Wilder – Little House on the Prarie)
  • Modern version of a corn husk doll

What you will need:

  • A large square of calico
  • A small square of coloured fabric
  • A small rectangle of a different coloured fabric
  • Polystyrene ball
  • Scissors
  • Twine
